Next month I’ll be blogging daily on “30 looks for Fall” and as a contributor for “Inside the Tents,” will be reporting live from New York Fashion Week.  Check out their website:

What is “The Little Black Dress Experiment” all about? Read the introduction here.

Statement jewelry is really big for Fall and one of the hot trends is over the top necklaces. If you don’t have the resources so buy one of the new pieces out for Fall I suggest taking some of the single strands you have and layering them. Attach some of the strands together with a vintage (or vintage style) brooch to give the look even more sizzle.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What pieces do you have to mix and match to create a statement piece for Fall?

LOCATION OF THE DAY: Northpark for the Neiman Marcus Fall Preview Fashion Show. It’s like home, away from home.

THE DRESS: “The Valerie Shift” designed by Elli Grace. Black cowl neck, sleeveless, knit dress.

WHERE TO BUY: Available online now at Elli Grace

PRICE: $150

MODEL: Deco Glamour

WHERE TO BUY: Available at MICHELE retailers include Neiman MarcusNordstrom and

PRICE: $3295 Deco Glamour Diamond, $120 Plum Leather Strap

ABOUT THE PIECE: The Deco style is one of the top seller’s for MICHELE. The Deco Glamour just seems like a perfect match for me, right? Bringing together two of my favorites MICHELE & Glamour. This month I’ll be pairing this watch head with a variety of straps from my strap wardrobe to showcase how changing the strap on your watch can change not just the look of the watch but often the look of the outfit as well. Strap is the Plum leather strap.

HANDBAG: Michele Inez

ABOUT THE PIECE: My bag is obviously the black version but it available at in a beautiful pearl version. Retail is $595 but if you can find any more in the black at Nordstrom it was marked down 50% off. This is the bag featured in The Dress Diaries sketch.

NECKLACES: 3 Black Beaded Necklaces

ABOUT THE PIECE: I am actually wearing three different necklaces. The longest one with the graduated beads is a vintage replica from Nordstrom that cost about $75 last fall. The long single strand was about $18 at Target last year as well. The triple strand is a vintage piece and I picked it up for about $12 nearly 10 years ago at a flea market.

SKIRT: Elli Grace

ABOUT THE PIECE: This great fuschia pleated silk skirt is made by Elli Grace and there were a few left at there end of season sale for just $100.

BRACELET: Neiman Marcus

ABOUT THE PIECE: Statement jewelry is big for Fall and I found this stunning bracelet at Neiman’s last week, sitting on top of the Michele watch counter. Got all the way to the car and decided I had to go back for it. I don’t typically spend this much on costume jewelry but I know this is a piece I will wear for years to come. Priced is $250.

SHOES: Fendi

ABOUT THE PIECE: I picked these shoes up at the Barney’s private end of season sale last year. They were 60% off retail and I have worn them and received more compliments on them than any other pair of heels in my closet. They are a perfect staple and the dramatic heels height does wonders for the calves.

Busy day began with a radio interview on the “Marty and Shannon” morning show on HOT 107 in Syracuse, New York. The morning was full of scheduling and preparations for New York Fashion Week…I leave in less than 7 days. So excited to be included as a contributor for “Inside The Tents,” New York Fashion Week’s Independent Blogosphere Coverage. Check it out at:

Morning quickly turned into afternoon where I was schedule to appear as a guest “Judge” along with Brittany Tiner “Miss Dallas” and Brooke Daniels “Miss Texas” for the MDA Executive Lock-up, at The Joule’s PM Lounge, hosted by Channel 5’s Scott Murray. It was a great venue for the fundraiser with a very good turn out and inevitably was a great kick off for the upcoming MDA telethon.

I left The Joule and headed straight to Neiman Marcus (the one at Northpark, not downtown as that would have been too convenient..hehe) for the private Neiman Marcus Fall Fashion Preview. We were seated in ladies footwear, which is a little like what I imagine heaven will be like (haha) and served fruity cocktails and white wine along with dainty appetizers befitting the venue.

The show highlighted the trends for Fall with looks featuring statement jewelry, animal prints, bright reds and pinks and of course, The Little Black Dress. Guests were treated to $50 shopping cards and they held drawings for great prizes including a stunning red Stella McCartney handbag.

After picking up a great grey cashmere wrap for Fall and the coordinating necklace to the bracelet I was wearing I headed to Kona Grill for some dinner. If you are ever in the area late at night they have a great reverse Happy Hour with drink specials and 50% off food after 9PM.

Just like you mentioned, I am going to use a variety of jewelry I already own to “create” a statement bold necklace for fall. I am still on the shopping hunt to find a great, big necklace that is in my budget – but in the meantime I will be clever, fashionable and resourceful to still achieve that look!

Just browsed through Neiman’s book, “If Loving Fashion Is a Crime, We Plead Guilty,” and one thing that stood out to me, thinking about my closet, is the chunky jewelry. I have some pieces that I love, and it is going to be wonderful for them to be such a fashion statement this season. Some of the smaller, more delicate pieces, will add pizzazz when combined with larger pieces, and oomph can be given to smaller pieces when combined. I am excited to have an edge on this trend with my collection of fashion jewelry.
