PHOTO LOCATION: Georgetown, D.C.

I’m Vyqué, creator and Editor-at-Large of DC-based fashion blog, Fasshonaburu. Once known as “Hollywood for ugly people,” the nation’s capital is slowly coming into its own as a stylish city!  I couldn’t think of a better place to take my picture than historic neighborhood of Georgetown, with its canals, fashion boutiques, foreign embassies and… the infamous stairs used in the climactic scene of “The Exorcist!”

My 2010 New Year’s Resolution was to really step up my day to day dressing. While this has caused me to be late to work more often than not, I have learned a lot about my own personal style and make better purchasing decisions.  I love feminine and classic pieces with a quirky twist or rough edges, and I’ve finally gotten over my fear of standing out! As it turns out, I like to dress to amuse myself – there is a lot less laughter in my life if I can’t look in the mirror and giggle at my own silliness.

Taking what I’ve learned so far this year, this LBD by Ann Taylor was a perfect foundation for a chic, downtown look. I contrasted its clean, professional feel with a vintage denim vest stolen right out of my mom’s closet! I decided to keep going with my bad girl vibe by throwing on a multi-strand chain necklace and my killer Camilla Skovgaard heels (almost literally – I do not recommend walking down a three flight staircase in these). I can’t seem to quit wearing socks, so on they went as well! For my final touch I threw on my new two tone sunglasses which, let’s be honest, are more than a little reminiscent of the limited edition Chanel ones worn by celebrities a couple years back. But I could never find the originals and just couldn’t resist when I saw these!

I think I managed to pull together a fun, eye-catching look – I know it made me smile and I hope you did too!

My outfits consists of:

Little Black Dress: Courtesy of Ann Taylor
Denim Vest: 1970’s Eddie Bauer
Multi-chain Necklace: Baker’s
Green Ring: Yosca
Shoes: Camilla Skovgaard
Sunglasses: Quay Eyewear
