Some women can pull of the fabulous red lip look like they’re wearing chapstick, that they applied while riding a bike. I on the other hand find it a bit more daunting. Though I love the look I find there are so many associate challenges. For example, how to keep it on my lips on not my clothes, cheeks or worse teeth. Or most importantly how to find “the right red.”Well I found one. Well actually, I didn’t find it, it found me.

Do you ever wake up and feel like maybe you just don’t look your brightest? Or maybe, like me, you just had a photofacial (we’ll save that for another blog) and you want a little color to cover up the “sun damage? A few weeks ago I received one of the most fabulous beauty products in my make-up bag, from Glamour. What is it? Poudre Shimmer by Dior, or in English “ultra-shimmering all over face powder.”

I love picking up the mail and discovering packages I didn’t order. This week I found a little treat from Glamour. A bottle of Dior’s J’Adore. I loved it even before smelling it. It’s just so easy to say J’Adore Dior. (translated “I adore Dior”) The words roll off your tongue. Surely their marketing team planned this. The sleek gold and white packaging have a minimalist feel and honestly, anything labeled “Made in France” will get at least a moment of my attention.
LIKE: Snackwell’s Fudge Drizzled Popcorn?
Posted on | September 26, 2011
How could diet food and “fudge drizzled” be in the same sentence, right? I returned from Europe last week to find GLAMOUR had sent me a package of Snackwell’s Fudge Drizzled Popcorn to try out. Since in my mind I had assigned it to the “diet food” category, I admit I was a bit skeptical. First of all, most “diet” snacks I’ve tasted all taste the way I imagine cardboard would taste. When I opened the Snackwell’s I discovered it looked nearly identical to the FunkyChunky popcorn I crave when I have a sweet tooth. What I discovered?
FASHION: Sugar-n-Spice and Everything Lace
Posted on | September 25, 2011
Sugar and spice and everything nice. WHY isn’t the word “lace” somehow included in this rhyme? Lace is uber feminine and frilly. Pretty and perfect. What I’m referencing is neither Madonna in the late 80’s nor your grandmother with her parasol. Instead I am thinking of delicate touches of lace. Maybe a hint of lace on a sleeve or lace detailing on the ends of a scarf. A new, trendy metal lace earring to add just a little “something” to your outfit.
FASHION: Just For Kicks

I am sure when I’m older I’ll probably have foot problems and have to resign myself to sneakers on a regular basis. Why? Well, fabulous as they may look my chiropractor keeps telling me all those high heels with their pointy toes and 4 inch heels are wreaking havoc on my posture/feet/life. My most comfortable pair of heels measures just over 6 inches. That may sound insane but with the covered platform they have a true heel height of about 2.5 inches. Tricky, I know.

FASHION: In The Mood For Nude
Posted on | September 23, 2011
Ever notice that your mood dictates the colors of the clothes you wear? Think about it. If you are searching for something in your closet and are in a really upbeat mood… do you grab that black top? Probably not. You might grab that Tiffany blue sweater instead. If you’re feeling sassy and sexy you might hunt for something red. Feeling elegant? Those pearls from White House Black Market are a classic finishing touch. Feeling bold? A half a dozen gold bangles on your wrist shows it. It’s a subtle message we send with the colors we wear. And speaking of subtle, the new, one of this year’s hot colors (or non colors you might say) is nude. Pale pinks, pale peaches and all of those shades in between. From blazers to dresses to pumps, even our jewelry. Nude is THE color.
BEAUTY: Brush It Off
Posted on | September 22, 2011
Ever have one of those days when you seriously cannot do a thing with your hair? No matter what you do nothing seems to work. We have put our hair in clips, in headbands, in ponytails. And then we re-do the entire cycle. Again. And again. Back to brushing it. Maybe if we just re-blow dry the bangs, it will look better.

BEAUTY: Just BROWsing…
Posted on | September 21, 2011
The best advice for women from most make-up artists is to “frame the face.” This means that the most important features that need to be paid attention to are the brows, eyes and mouth. Sometimes we forget about the brows. We sometimes forget them until we come face to face with one of those magnifying mirrors. That’s a wake up call! Regardless, it really shows how important our brows are to our face.
