LOFT Summer Style Alive & Well in NYC
Posted on | April 14, 2010
Though it was 48 degrees outside in NYC when I landed this morning, the sun is now shining overhead, the temps have warmed up to nearly 70 degrees and it felt like summer when I walked into LOFT this afternoon. I was immediately surrounded by bright colors mixed with classic staples…it felt a little like a supersized version of my closet. Ha.
It feels like LOFT just revealed their Spring line— with my favorite accessory being this awesome gold cuff— and not only is Summer now in stores I’ll get to catch a sneak peak at their Fall line tonight! Note: this is one of the first times ever someone has given me a piece of jewelry I truly love. I’ve worn it quite a few times already!
Looking for basic staple tees and tanks for summer? I am ALWAYS ready to update my basic tees. It seems like every season I’m ready for a fresh set. The prices are perfect too. Tanks are two for $20 and tees are 2 for $25. Who can beat that? Check out the wide spectrum of colors available in a range of styles and sizes.
And one of my favorite accessories for it’s versatility? The ever-faithful scarf. The color selection is a little like a rainbow. These scarves feature a little bit of pattern and I (as always) suggest this is a great way to add a trend style or pop of color to your look for a minimal investment.
Looking for a great summer bag that will hold all your stuff, look amazing and not break the bank? Check out this stylish white hobo bag with contrasting platinum colored handles and studded accenting. RTV $148.
The store was overloaded with great merchandise, all ready for summer and priced almost entirely under $100. There was so much it was a little overwhelming. It probably didn’t help I was peeking around in their flagship store at Times Square, which is nothing if not enormous. Definitely drop by your local LOFT and take a look around so you can check things out for yourself.
Stylish ways to wear shorts for summer without the “Daisy Dukes” effect.
If you don’t own a white boyfriend jacket, make this your next purchase. A great staple to get you thru summer. Just $98. Just noticed the mannequin is missing a finger. Hmm???
Love these hooks as a storage solution for tanks. Also they’re used in another area of the store for scarves and I’d imagine they’d be great for handbags as well.
Great warm weather day-to-evening look for summer.
And if you’re still thinking Spring (that line is awesome too) and looking for a deal check out the overflowing racks of all the great merchandise that was just drastically discounted 40% or more to make room for the new Summer collection.
Want to save even more? I have a special deal for you. April 20-25th utilize this incredible friends and family discount offer to save an additional 30% off your entire purchase. Enter Code #107020289.
Well I’m off to the LOFT Fall collection party to get a sneak peak at what’s in store for back to school season. Stay tuned for an update!

Personal Styling Services Offered by Society Stylist
Posted on | April 12, 2010
Wonder what we do when we aren’t covering fashion shows, traveling the world or updating the blog??? At Society Stylist we want to help you find the style that suits you, makes you feel good about yourself and let’s you look at your closet every day as though it was your favorite boutique. After responding to many inquiries concerning what personal styling services we offer, what our rates are and what we can do for our clients, we have put together a list and descriptions of our most commonly used services, including our start with what you have “Wardrobe Cleanse.”
Want to see a “Wardrobe Cleanse” from beginning to end??? Watch this 4 minute clip from ABC’s national style show Mirror, Mirror to see a brief overview of a recent “Wardrobe Cleanse” with one of our favorite clients, Brittany Tiner:
The first step to becoming a Society Stylist personal client is to set up an initial consultation. This gives you 90 minutes of focused time to go over your wants, needs and goals in working with us. The next step is to do a “Wardrobe Cleanse.” One of the primary things that makes our styling services unique is we start with what you already have. By going thru your current wardrobe it allows us to get a real feel for your style, find out your likes and dislikes and also gives both us and you insight into what is actually already in your closet— there is a lot of “Oh, I totally forgot I had that!” Another unique service we offer is the virtual closet that can be accessed from an iPhone or computer so we can see your wardrobe from anywhere in the world and assist with planned or last minute wardrobing needs.
Check out our “Styling Services” page for more details.

Blind Designer Sergey Ermakov to Show in Dallas
Posted on | April 6, 2010
It is not too late to get your ticket to see Sergey Ermakov’s amazing collection in Dallas, April 16, 2010. Sergey Ermakov is flying from Kiev to Dallas to premier 30 pieces of his haute couture collection to raise money for the American Foundation for the Blind, Center on Vision Loss. Sergey can only see 5% of what you can see and he is living proof that people can live successfully with vision loss – which is the theme of the event. Sergey lost his vision at the age of 11 when he developed diabetic retinopathy. His creations are inspired by art, literature, nature and history. He is a very hands-on designer and oversees every step of his creations. He designs using touch and sound to select the fabrics and still sketches on large paper what he sees in his minds-eye. His work is all hand-made and is worn by those who love fashion, the Ukrainian elite and celebrities.
For more information about how to get a ticket to either the Bruncheon and Runway Show or the Evening Runway Show & Cocktails, please contact Abi Erickson at aerickson@afb.net or call 214-438-5315. A portion of the proceeds will also fund the F2 scholarship program with local non-profit the Fashionistas, founded by Heidi Dillon. They provide scholarships for fashion students to shows, industry events and educational seminars.
Little Black Dress in the Kitchen
Posted on | April 5, 2010
Just last night my husband and I were discussing what to do over the upcoming weekend. I, of course, have visions of fabulous and fun cocktails and appetizers. He has visions of low key. Ok, I can do low key. I mean, the economy is tight and I did just buy that awesome new YSL ring so perhaps low key is a better option than that $15 fancy cocktail, right? But somehow “low key” didn’t get my heart excited for the weekend. I followed his response with a “but…can we do something fun in our low key weekend?” to which he replied, “of course!”
Finding the fun in our low key-ness can be tricky. If we’re cooking in, that can be unglamorous and kind of boring. It we get take-out and stay in a little it’s better… but still kind of lacks glitz. I mean who looks forward to eating out of styrofoam containers. What I am looking for is a combination of low key fun with some glitz. I don’t need to always go out on the town, but can the town come into my kitchen? Can we add some pizzazz to our dining in and low key meals? Can our dinner parties be positively party perfect?
Elizabeth Scokin of Haute Hostess says YES! Yes we can be glamorous while dining in. In fact, how about we’re glamorous while we’re preparing the meals! It’s true. Elizabeth Scokin has designed the most amazing aprons (yes, aprons!) that I’ve ever laid my low key eyes on. They are fab. They are gorg. They are the ultimate “Little Black Dress in the kitchen.” Now while I am preparing a chicken casserole I can sip on a martini (why not!) and wear my fantastic apron and feel like I am out on the town. Better yet when guests arrive I can look put together rather than like I’ve been slaving in the kitchen all day. There are a few super sass collections that she has created – some that tie around the waist and other full body styles that tie around your neck as well. What’s her inspiration? You’ll LOVE this… it’s the cocktail dress! No more boring plaid aprons or aprons with apples and pies on them. Nope. Let’s get keen in the kitchen with these aprons!
From Oprah to Domino to Glamour to dozens of other hot magazines, Elizabeth Scokin’s aprons are everywhere. If you consider yourself a hostess with the mostess, you MUST pick up one of these fab finds asap! Check them out online HERE. Want to see them in person? Stop by the Haute Hostess trunk show at Stanley Korshak, this Wednesday from 11-2PM. Meet designer Elizabeth Scokin and take a peek at her fabulous creations.
