Shades of Spring. The Pantone Color Report.

Posted on | January 26, 2009

Every year fashion insiders try to predict what shades are going to color this season’s fashion collections. Orange is the new pink,” or not, according to Reese Witherspoon’s character in Legally Blonde. Or grey is the new black. This spring designers are mixing vibrant, neutrals and pastels to evoke peace and optimism. Expect some amazing shades of slate grey, blue and a myriad of greens and pinks in shops starting in February.
Pantone is a company that has long set the industry standard for artists and designers alike. In addition to their standard color books, they now produce a great color trend guide for each fashion season that is a great “go to” for color inspiration. Could Doggy Couture Become Illegal?

Posted on | January 21, 2009

When is it dangerous to dress your dog in designer duds? This is the question the RSPCA is posing in Britain. According to the Daily Mail, “The RSPCA is threatening legal action against dog owners who ‘over-dress’ their pets. Officials claim that putting on items such as boots, all-in-one trousers and hoodies, could be harmful to dogs and lead to prosecution for owners if they feel an animal’s welfare is at risk. Canine couture is big business and the increasing trend among owners to dress their pets fashionably has even led to top designers including Vivienne Westwood and Ben de Lisi creating dog outfits.”
“The RSPCA is not only concerned with the sometime restrictive and “unnatural” doggy duds, but they are also concerned that the trend is turning dogs into little dolls that are “trendy” and an “accessory.” Dorset RSPCA spokeswoman Jo Barr said, “Dog owners should be aware that under the Animal Welfare Act that came into force in April 2007 they have a duty of care to ensure that all of their pets’ needs are met. One of those needs is to express normal behavior and it could mean that with restrictive clothing they are not able to do that properly. We’re concerned that any pet should be viewed as a fashion accessory. Taking on an animal is a long-term commitment. It’s quite humiliating and sends out the wrong message about pet care.”

Does this mean that designers are going to go back to designing just for humans? For those of you who aren’t ready to give up on designer styles for your doggy, quite yet, be sure to check out the Paws for a Cause event at Sambuca this Sunday, January 25, 2009. The inventory will be shipping out to Denver market after our shopping event tomorrow.

The stock they currently have is from the Manuel designer clothing. The designer division of Manuel competed with Gucci, Prada, YSL, etc. The merchandise is MADE IN ITALY merchandise and the prices from range from $30 to $1000.00 (For the furs). Don’t Miss Out, Impending Store Closings

Posted on | January 8, 2009

Many of use have received the email that has been circulating, concerning the impending 2009 “Store Closings.” For those of you who haven’t seen the list we want to take a minute to make you aware and also remind you of how to prepare and how to make the most of the upcoming bargain opportunities.

What have we all heard? “Look out for store closings as we enter a new fiscal year.” While this certainly may be disheartening news if your favorite store is on the list, on a positive note it will be a bargain shopper’s dream. Not only will the closings provide deals for buyers who are looking to cut costs in this bear market. Store closings will keep the market fresh and competitive. While shopping closeout sales, be sure to keep an eye out for usable fixtures and furniture during these rare opportunities!

With all of these store closings, it is strongly advised that you make any necessary returns and use any remaining store credits or gift cards ASAP. As we have all seen in the past, once these stores close, the gift cards will no longer be honored by the parent companies.
