ABC’S MIRROR, MIRROR: The Little Black Dress Experiment™

Valerie Elizabeth, owner of Society Stylist, came up with a seemingly crazy idea. “The Little Black Dress Experiment was essentially 31 days I wore the same dress,” she says.

Yes, that’s one month, one dress (although she did have two so she could wash one while wearing the other!) The trick was styling it in a different way every day. In the end, Valerie says, “Every look was so different, and that was really surprising to me.”

So, for the anniversary of the LBD Experiment, we challenged Valerie to take one little black dress and do it again& on a much smaller scale.

Here’s how she styled one dress, ten different ways:

1. Platform pumps, a leopard-print clutch and sparkly cuffs

2. Layered scarves, a satin shrug, jeweled heels and a little gray clutch

3. Tights with tall boots, a twisted scarf, a tweed jacket, a black patent leather belt

4. A sweater with layered pearls, clogs and a big brown bag

5. A blouse layered under the dress, doubled belts, oversized clutch

6. Long, layered scarves (one draped around her neck and one around her waist)

7. Backpack, a light-weight sweater, skinny belts layered in different colors, strappy wooden-soled shoes

8. A traditional blazer, belt over the blazer, layered necklaces and a scarf

9. Burgundy bootie, lightweight leopard cardigan, stacked bracelets

10. The basic dress with sparkles piled on from head to toe

For the anniversary of the LBD Experiment, Valerie is asking 31 bloggers around the country to style the one LBD and take a picture in front of their city’s most famous landmark. Check it out at: www.societystylist.com.
