Red Carpet Ready: Oscar Worthy Hair

Posted on | March 5, 2010

Date night. Friday night. Special event night.  You found the perfect dress, but what to do about your hair? Augh. Hair can be so fickle. True, it sometimes looks amazing [usually on the days where nothing special is planned] yet on “important” hair days it somehow turns to what I call “hair mush,” otherwise known as “a whole lot of not what I am going for.”

Dishing the hair secret dirt!  Do you know that you can style your hair (like if you’re doing to the Oscars) in under 10 minutes and look amazing?  It’s true.  It’s a fact.  And it’s not hair rocket science!  Read on. The first secret to styling your hair for an updo…it should be DIRTY. WHAT???? I know, it was hard for me to understanding too. For years I had tried conditioning, deep conditioning, hair protector, lots of things I thought would work but the number one thing to help your hair stay nicely in a updo is that it is dirty. If it’s not dirty, never fear…you can add hairspray, tease it, and curl it to make it seem dirty and then start on your updo.

A quick style that is very popular on the red carpet this year. The low side bun. How to do it?  So simple – all you do is pull your hair into a low side ponytail to start (think 1989.)  Tease your ponytail to give it volume and texture. It may look “undone,” but don’t worry! In the final step wrap your teased ponytail around your base, hairspray and secure with bobby pins.  Want to look ultra sophisticated while staying on trend with this easy do!!!

No matter how you do your do – look to the red carpets for inspiration!  Fashion and hair go hand in hand so if you’re into the lastest big designer looks, don’t forget to check out the celeb hair styles. Check out the Academy Awards on Sunday night for the hottest new trends in hair and fashion styles.
